Picture & Math Activities

Picture day is scheduled for Monday, March 29th! You can send a change of clothes for your child if you want their picture taken in clothes other than a uniform.

The children have been getting a lot of math practice measuring, talking about attributes, measuring, clocks, and two and three dimensional shapes.

Our week to lead the school's announcements!

It was our class' turn! The kids did a great job! Everyone had a chance to be a part of the activities, all the jobs were important and crucial to the smooth (mostly) flow of the routine. Please congratulate your child on a job well done!

The Great Melting Race

What can we do to get the ice, a solid, to turn into a liquid ( melt) first? Let's talk about our stategy! Let's work together! What if we...?

Ok, what if we hold it?

The kids worked in 4 teams and raced against the other teams to see which one would get the ice to melt the fastest! Two groups finished neck in neck, just 30 seconds separated them. They took turns rubbing the bags of ice, holding them up to the sunshine ("so the heat would melt it"), and even put the bags under their shirts since their "bodies are hot." It was a lot of fun as they realized that rubbing the bags between their hands worked pretty well.

Huffs and Puffs

How many puffs does it take to blow the paperback book across the table?
It won't move!

How many puffs does it take to blow a pencil across the table? or a clothespin? or a small yarn ball? The children first predicted how many puffs it would take to blow the items off the tables then they huffed and puffed and recorded the actual number of puffs on their observation sheets.
